Hello dear friends,
I would love to be able to tell you that we have completely dealt with the effects of the fire, but sadly it looks as if it will be many more months. However, I am sure you have heard more than enough of my troubles - and even if not, I find myself bored with thinking about all that....
I will celebrate the continuing regrowth of our big tree fern, from this...
To this:
..
By an interesting coincidence, last time I sat down to write here, on 27th March, the clearance team had begun work - today, 29th April, they are back to complete the work over the next day or two - removing all the burnt remains of our life together and the mobile home that we lived in from 1991 up to the fire on 18th January this year. We are still awaiting even an interim payment from the insurance company - which is disgraceful. We now have a friend who has experience in the industry helping which takes some of the stress out of the process and they may take more notice of someone who is not so emotionally involved as we are.
Sadly we have had to accept that our cat Evie died in the fire. The old farm act, Chilli, has taken to visiting even though we are no longer putting food out. He is very old, over eighteen I think, and loves lying on our decking, completely ignoring the birds on the feeders right over his head. Every mealtime we have entertainment provided by the variety of wild birds that visit, and today we saw a woodpecker for the very first time We used to see them all the time so it is a joy to think they may return.
Blossoming
I have chosen a word again this month as Blossoming is the perfect description for May here in Cornwall, both at home in what survives of our garden, and out on the cliffs.
What is your first response? To the word? To the colour?
What else is there?
And, what else?
This rhododendron in our garden is flowering more profusely than ever this year.
And the wild flowers out on the cliffs are tiny and wonderful.
Forthcoming events and Dare to Blossom Monthly Circles
The "Becoming You" eight-week programme is in full flow and I am developing plans for a shorter four week offering to fit in before the main summer school holidays here in England.
More news of that very soon, with some taster circles - and the four weeks will be an opportunity for an extended 'taste' of the longer eight-week deep-dive programmes. I am thinking of offering the Zoom calls at 11.00 am on Thursday mornings as the current day/time of Tuesday at 2.30 pm does not suit some people in other time zones.
The May Saturday Circle is on 9th May at 11.00 am, and the Monday evening one on 18th at 7.30 pm.
You can read more here, or contact me for the Zoom link to join us.
Thank you for your support as always.
with love and gratitude,
Mary
