Article of Interest: How Does It Serve Us to Play Small?
With thanks to Ann Ross who is an EFT practitioner based in Exeter, Devon.
Why is it that we can sometimes feel stuck in our processing?

Is it that we have an attachment to keeping those negative feelings?

Are we identified by our feelings? Is that identification who we think we are?

If so, what is our investment in or resistance to letting go?

WHY would I resist being radiantly healthy, physically, mentally and emotionally?

Well – my goodness – we might be thinking something like: “Who am I to be fabulous and wonderful
and radiantly vibrant?”

What if we are simply stuck in an old paradigm – we are trying to find our way out and this is the only
way we know of doing it!!

Just for a moment think of 4 reasons why you would want to “play small”/feel helpless or hopeless in
your life. Write them down, fill in the blanks below. Remember to clear, clear, until this is no longer
the truth for you.

Example:
“I have to stay small/helpless/hopeless otherwise….”
Or:
“I can’t be powerful otherwise…..”

What if through this continual processing, it seems endless, no other way of doing it. Maybe this way
of thinking just gets us to focus more on what we don’t want, rather than the more positively
aspected, what we do want.

What if you are really afraid of how powerful you are?

“Whatever a man can conceive and believe can be achieved” Napoleon Hill, Think & Grow Rich

The potential for greatness lies within every one of us.

Connect to the superhero within YOU. What does it tell you?
Is IT male or female – young or old. What is this superhero inside of you wearing?
Again write it down below.

If it had ONE THING it would like you to know, what might that be?

Take the time to go inside and find the answers for you. This could be one of the most inspiring
things you do today!!

We all know that the brain cannot tell the difference between what is real and imagination. Claim
your true power through your imagination. Imagination is where your power lies. Imagination directly
affects your physiology.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge” Albert Einstein

Recommended book

I have been reading again a book by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and David Kessler, Life Lessons. The
authors (especially Elisabeth) are well-known for their work on grief, death and dying. I have read
several of the books and I particularly like this one, which I think was Elisabeth’s last before her
death, as it draws out many lessons, as the title says, for life. Here is a link to the website, scroll
down the page for this title http://www.ekrfoundation.org/books.php.

The stories and ideas are very relevant to the theme of loss and connection I am writing about on
and off with the feeling that it will be the subject of my next book.

News

I have yet to make a definite decision, but the next issue of this newsletter in December may be the
last monthly one for a while. As regular readers will know, I have taken on a full time contract
working as a coach, trainer and business advisor, and I am also studying the second year of my
professional graduate certificate in education (PGCE) course. So, in terms of balance in my life, I
need to simplify some of my other commitments for a while and this may be one of them.

I am sure things will change and move on again in the future and I may well come back to monthly
newsletter writing again. In any case I will write again next month, and offer the free draw prize of six
telephone life coaching sessions as promised on my website. I will be continuing with my one-to-one
telephone coaching as I know that is valuable to the people I work with and they in their turn always
pass on a gift to me during our conversations. And I will share news and insights with you as long as
you wish to stay subscribed.

Thank you for reading, do email me with any questions, comments or suggestions, or feedback on
particular items. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone you think may be interested.

Mary
