Reflections: Changes

This time of year is full of changes whether you are in the Northern or Southern hemispheres. Here in Cornwall spring is really burgeoning all around with the buds on the trees breaking into leaf and a succession of flowers blooming. In the south your autumn is coming with the associated seasonal changes.

At this particular time around the world there are many other changes taking place to do with the economic situation. For me personally, a new chapter is beginning as on 31 March my contract with the college where I have worked for over five and a half years ended. This is of course just at the time when it is seen as hard to find other work. Although I have yet to put something in place I am finding that there are many opportunities arising for me.

As I wrote last month, it is sometimes hard to see past the fear when in an uncertain situation. I am personally practising living with the belief that ‘as one door closes, another opens’. There is that feeling that something has to be complete and finished before there is ‘room’ for new things to come in.

The full quote is attributed to Alexander Graham Bell: “When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.”

For you:
What doors are opening for you now?
Do you need to close others in order to see them?
Are you unable to see the new doors due to ‘looking long and regretfully’ at closed ones?
What actions can you take to move forward?

For me, I feel that some kind of ceremony enables me to move on without regrets. My colleagues yesterday presented me with a lovely hand made glass bowl and a card full of messages, both of which I will treasure. After a sociable lunch with my immediate team I was able to say goodbye and look forward to the new doors opening.

“Embracing Abundance with Passion” workshop 25 April

The next Dare to Blossom workshop will be a half day on Saturday 25 April at Millennium House, Pensilva, near Liskeard. I am pleased to say that the workshop already has enough people booked to go ahead, and it would be wonderful to welcome you to the day as well. Do contact me if you would like to know more.

All my workshops evolve over time and thank you to the people who have attended the two ‘Abundance’ events I have run so far for your part in this. Since the last workshop on 14 March, ‘Creating Abundance’ has developed into ‘Embracing Abundance’ as that seems to express the experience we have had when discussing what abundance means to us.

Come and enjoy a morning of fun, laughter, and reflection, to focus on what matters most to you. We will use life coaching and creative exercises designed to help you to celebrate the abundance all around us even in the midst of change and uncertainty.

Venue: Millennium House, Pensilva, near Liskeard.

Times: arrival from 9.30 for refreshments, start at 10.00, finish at 12.30 p.m.

Cost: £25 per person, including a follow-up telephone coaching consultation after the workshop (value £45). Some concessionary places available.

Special Offer for Newsletter readers: if you have missed the Early Bird price of £15 that ended on 31 March, you can still come at that rate, please send a cheque with the booking form marking clearly that you have seen the special offer here.
